Wilderness Crisis Training

Crisis response and recovery tools for the outdoor community.

High-consequence environments demand specialized medical and rescue skills, but they also demand a high level of psychological resilience. When an incident occurs far from the pavement, the emotional and mental impact on subjects, families, and rescue teams is amplified by isolation, environment, and time.

Our dual-sided educational curriculum is designed specifically to meet this challenge. We don't just teach theory—we deliver practical, human-centered interventions and compassionate crisis reponse training built specifically for the front lines of the wild.

A Dual-Sided Approach to Crisis Response

Our curriculum is built on a simple belief: no one should have to rely on a single expert in a crisis. We empower teams, agencies, and individuals to look out for themselves and each other, ensuring everyone feels prepared to navigate a worst-case scenario while knowing exactly what peer and professional resources are available when the dust settles.

Backcountry Literacy for Care Providers

For traditional chaplains, mental health professionals, and crisis workers, entering the wilderness environment requires a shift in mindset. This training equips established care providers to confidently step in as a trusted resource by developing:

  • Cultural Competency: Understanding the unique mindset, traditions, and operational realities of volunteer and professional rescue teams.

  • Incident Command Integration: Learning how to seamlessly interface with an Incident Command Post (ICP) as an integrated asset, not an operational distraction.

  • Environmental Awareness: Developing the foundational literacy needed to remain safe, self-sufficient, and aware when supporting operations off the grid.

Stress Immunity & Preparation for Responders

For Search and Rescue teams, first responders, and outdoor leaders, true preparation happens long before the page goes out. This training provides the mental frameworks needed to build internal and collective strength, ensuring teams can care for their own from within:

  • Building Stress Immunity: Actionable concepts to help individuals understand, anticipate, and manage the acute physiological and psychological impacts of a high-stress incident so they feel prepared for a worst-case scenario.

  • Critical Stress & Peer Support: Practical tools to recognize and mitigate the immediate impact of difficult or fatal missions while still out in the field, relying on sustainable, peer-to-peer care.

  • Navigating the Resource Network: Understanding what professional, regional, and larger-scale crisis resources exist so leadership knows exactly how and where to turn for long-term recovery support.
